One true church? What about Baptism? p1

We begin a series on Baptism as taught in the Book of Mormon.   There are many questions today among those who have left the established "churches" that have sprung forth since 1830.   Many already having different doctrines and teachings.   Man added to the simple doctrine of Christ just as He warned us not to.    We want to see what the Book of Mormon  teaches.  Who has authority to baptize?   When should we be baptized? Is there anyone today that has "authority" to do so?   What does authority mean?   
When Jesus came to America He established His doctrine.  It is interesting that he told the more righteous that were preserved during the destruction and three days of darkness to stop contending over his doctrine.  This means that it wasn't just the ones that were "right" that were preserved.    They were however the ones that showed charity towards those that were destroyed.  This is a clue we believe into the hearts of men and what is required.   Jesus discussed baptism and how it should be done to do away with their contentions.   He also shared His doctrine and told all to not add to it.  Unfortunately men have not listened.   What does the Book of Mormon  say?
